Finance Latvia Association Advisor Laima Letiņa, CAMS, CGSS introduced Canadian policymakers to the accomplishments and achievements in information sharing possibilities in Latvia at the Ottawa Policy Forum on “Private sector information sharing to tackle financial crime”, organized by Future of Financial Intelligence Sharing of the Royal United Services Institute.

Drawing from international innovation examples and responding to the evolving nature of financial crime threats facing Canadians, this event explored the potential for private-sector information sharing to provide transformative results in defending against those threats, whilst meeting privacy Charter obligations. The Forum supported dialogue and raised awareness about the latest innovation and good practices – both in Canada and internationally – relating to private sector collaboration and information-sharing models to tackle financial crime.

The solutions found in close collaboration with competent national authorities and supervisory agencies in strengthening the compatible and consistent application of GDPR and AML/CFT requirements have been boldly emphasized.
